Why We Are Building FAIND
and how it can make your life better
We genuinely believe that the world would be a better place with more human connection. Loneliness is now officially an epidemic that could hurt you as much as smoking, and yet most “social” tech out there is designed to make things worse. Social media maximizes the time spent online, dating apps profit off users being lonely forever and many AI chatbots are being built to replace the need for humans at all.
We are not here to do that: our mission is to use the full power of AI to build tools that help people meet and form meaningful connections. While we don’t think there’s a pure technological solution to loneliness, we believe better tech should exist that is optimized for people, not engagement metrics.
We act on our beliefs! In December 2023, we are launching FAIND: the first ever AI designed to automatically discover people who share your interests or intentions.
We live in a disconnected world where most people don’t know each other, and it’s not enough to get everyone online to change that. Our attention span is limited: with 3 million people living in Toronto, there are 4.5 trillion potential human connections.
It is physically impossible to keep up with everyone, but what if we had an AI that understands who we are, what we are looking for and what other people we should meet?
The AI we’ve created is not meant to be your best friend, but rather “that friend from a party” who knows the people you would get along with and introduces you to each other. The app that we’ve made is innovative in many important ways:

What makes FAIND different from dating or networking apps is that it's an app for everything. Regardless of what you are looking for and how niche your interests are, our AI can understand it and connect you with relevant people. You are only limited by what you can express through text, and if you want some inspiration, here is a list of 15 things you can use FAIND for.
2. Designed To Save Time
We’ve built an AI that can read thousands of “profiles” per minute so that you don’t have to — no more endless swiping! It will only recommend you people aligned with what you are looking for, and the final call on who to connect with is always yours.
3. Works for you 24/7
The problem with existing apps is that people have to constantly check them to avoid missing out. In contrast, even if our AI can’t find anyone who matches your interests as soon as you join, it will be looking 24/7 and will notify you as soon as something comes up.
The moment you give it instructions you are free to go on with your life — it monitors the app so that you don’t have to!
4. You Control The Algorithm
Our AI works in the most straightforward way possible: you describe what connections you seek and it matches you with people who look for something similar. By instructing it with natural language you have the power to add as much nuance as you want and decide what matters to you: no inscrutable algorithms or hidden popularity scores.
5. Interpretable Recommendations
Every match made by AI is provided with an explanation that allows you to understand its logic and give feedback.
6. Intentional
FAIND is a place for people to connect with people, and you can’t use it otherwise. There is no way to waste your time browsing as there is nothing to browse: no feed, no likes, no means to compare yourself to others or fight for popularity.
7. It Only Gets Better With Time
We already can do 10x more than any existing “app to meet people” and we are excited to build further. As the time goes and more people join, our AI will get better at doing its job and we will add more features to make the app more powerful.
